Tavistock Turners and Carvers Club – History

TT&CC

The Club was formed in 2002 by a few enthusiastic local wood turners and carvers. 

Funding initially came from the National Lottery and the club is now fully self sufficient, funding coming from annual subscriptions, sales of wares, raffles, and donations.

We particularly welcome complete beginners and those who are interested in finding out more about wood turning. Members can use the club “blog” page to speak with other members and comment on other posts.

Milestone Announcement: Silver Anniversary

Time flies when you're making shavings! In 2027, our club officially hits the quarter-century mark, and we are planning an unforgettable day to celebrate 25 years of community, learning, and incredible woodwork.

We are pulling out all the stops for this milestone. The cornerstone of our all-day celebration will be a featured all-day demonstration by a premier professional woodturner, sharing expert techniques, tips, and artistry that you won't see anywhere else.

What to Expect:

  • Masterclass Inspiration: Spend the day watching a pro transform raw wood into art.

  • Community & Connection: Catch up with fellow members and meet new ones.

  • Complimentary Food: No need to pack a lunch—great food and refreshments will be provided to keep everyone fueled for the festivities.
